Major advances in the digitisation of modern coins

The digitisation of modern Habsburg coins in the Vienna Coin Cabinet is continuing to progress thanks to the support of the Ronus Foundation. Another milestone was reached yesterday, as the entire collection of more than 1,500 coins from Emperor Rudolf II (1576–1612) is now available online at the IKMK.

Rudolf II's extensive coinage ranges from large pieces such as gold multiples and multiple talers, to taler fractions, groschen, kreuzer and denarii, to the smallest obols. In addition to the Austrian mints, those of the Hungarian and Bohemian crowns have also been digitised.
Work on the Habsburg collection is continuing apace in order to systematically catalogue the Coin Cabinet's holdings, pave the way for the CNA (Corpus Nummorum Austriacorum) project and further develop it as a digital portal.
